Wilson's current body of work titled, Queer Identity, investigates queer self-expression within the LGBTQ+ community through portraiture. This series is an outlet where she can share others' experiences with being queer and non-binary. My subject’s only instruction was to dress how they express their identity, then they would send her images or she would photograph them. From there, she investigates the human figure, capturing the subject's essence through different hues and values to depict an array of emotions. This body of work aims to show viewers that there isn’t one way to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Advocating for the environment is very important to Wilson. She paints landscapes to capture the beauty of nature, but also to remind us what we will be missing out on if we don't take care of our planet. Taylor scouts locations and paints plein air whenever possible, when it's not, she works from a reference photo.
Taylor Wilson has worked as a makeup artist on various photoshoots and the award-winning short film Tears Of Our Reality.
Taylor takes mirrors and upcycles them into 'Moss Mirrors', she uses preserved moss, fake flowers, and other accessories such as fake birds, insects, etc.
Growing up, Wilson felt like most teenagers, invincible like nothing bad could ever happen to me. That feeling was taken away once she turned 15 years old and everything she ate started to cause her pain. It was a relief when she got diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Although she wasn't prepared for chronic flare-ups, serious medications, stupid bathroom jokes, bad hospital experiences, frustrating phone calls with insurance, and the list goes on. Living with Crohn’s Disease means that because she looks healthy the legitimacy of her sickness is debated and downplayed, even by doctors. She presents herself to the world as able-bodied, while underneath her body is attacking itself from the inside. These paintings showcase the chronic pain she deals with daily.
Taylor completed a 20-ft. ceiling and outdoor mural at 0 Degree Thai Ice Cream in West Hartford, Connecticut. Taylor also got the opportunity to design a mural inside a private home.
Using Procreate, Taylor creates digital works of art. Rendering portraits, and turning clients into their favorite animation characters.
